The Yin, The Yang and The Five Elements

Feng Shui scholars believe that there are two opposing components of attributes in the universe. They are the Yin and the Yang. YIN gives the female, negative, even characteristic, darkness, softness attributes. YANG gives the male, dominant, positive, odd characteristic, brightness, hardness and dominant attributes. According to them, the law of nature needs the two opposing components to be in a balance position to give good quality Chi to mankind. This means that if there is imbalance, the action is balancing it to give a harmonious situation. In an imbalance situation, it is in an unstable situation. In a balance situation, it is in a more predictable situation and the person can exert control and management easily. Similarly, the weights of the five elements work that way. If one or more elements is heavier, there is imbalance and is in the situation of instability. A balance position will give the ideal condition for the individual to be fortunate and lucky. To balance the five elements, the concepts of productive and destructive among the elements are used.
